The National Early Care and Education Learning Collaborative

Status: Complete

WHAT: A project designed to spread sustainable policy and practice improvements in early care and education (ECE) programs to prevent childhood obesity. The project assists ECE providers to improve the quality of care they provide to young children with respect to nutrition, breastfeeding support, physical activity and screen time.

WHO: The collaborative involved 810 ECE programs in six states: Arizona, Florida, Indiana, Kansas, Missouri and New Jersey.

WHEN: October 2012 to September 2013

FUNDER: This project was funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and was in partnership with Nemours.

NICHQ'S ROLE: Provided technical assistance, strategic guidance and faculty expertise in ECE and public health, as well as assisted with collaborative quality improvement, outreach, recruitment and expansion for the project.

2013 State of States’ Early Childhood Data Systems

The Early Childhood Data Collaborative (ECDC) has released the 2013 State ResultsExternal Link for their Early Childhood Data Systems Survey. This survey examined states’ capacity to link child-level data, collect child development data, and governance of coordinated early childhood data systems.
