Mass in Motion Kids Learning Collaborative

Status: Complete

WHAT: A project to reduce childhood obesity in two communities in Massachusetts by focusing on making changes in primary care, child care, schools and after-school programs, as well as creating policy change and building awareness through a community-wide campaign.

WHO: The project involved 11 teams in the towns of Fitchburg and New Bedford, Mass.

WHEN: February 2012 to June 2016

FUNDER: The project was funded by the Center for Diseases Control and Prevention and is in partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Health, Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard School of Public Health.

NICHQ'S ROLE: Facilitated a Breakthrough Series learning collaborative to apply quality improvement methodology to obesity prevention. Provided support to establish a new healthy weight clinic and expert coaching to pre-existing clinics.
